This album is a compilation of solo and ensemble pieces recorded over a four year period (2014-2018).
The music on this album is a reflection upon my own Canadian settler heritage, through which I have inherited the brutal legacy of the British colonial project - a legacy that carries through to contemporary Canadian governance.
Re-configuring and re-contextualizing lyrics, and images presented in British colonial war ballads, chants, and anthems, the music traces the violence shadowed by the passage of time, meditating on the wounds, fissures, and scars formed and re-formed by the ghosts of these barbarous songs.
"...slow and contemplative in what I have come to think of as the “Arraymusic School” as reflected in the work of composers such as Linda Catlin Smith, Martin Arnold and John Mark Sherlock ... very thoughtful and introspective music." The Wholenote Magazine
